We chose this house for a few very important reasons…

1- first and foremost, the price was right! We were on a tight budget and knew we wanted to find a place that we could transform into our own.  And this place had a lot of work, but…

2- it had great bones… brick construction, in good shape, built in 1951 and a majority of the problems were cosmetic

3- the backyard was huge and fenced in, with 4 really big, beautiful trees!

4- there was room to expand- the basement was unfinished but had a full bathroom and potential for another bedroom…one day

5- we saw past the nasty interior problems (bad paint, old windows, painted hardwood floors, outdated finishes etc) and saw the potential for something beautiful

We were very fortunate to have about 6 weeks to do some serious renovation work before moving in… during that time we, with the help of our wonderful family and friends….

1-repainted every surface

2-replaced baseboards

3-ripped out carpet in upstairs bedrooms

4-refinished all the brown/peach painted hardwood floors/stairs

5- demolished basement built-ins

6-plugged 300+ screw holes in hardwood floors

7- had new Pella windows installed…

Here are a few before/after pics of the work we did before moving in
